Sophia M.
As a freshman, Sophia was looking for a club that she thought she would fit into, and her fondness for politics and public speaking quickly led her to join JSA. From her first chapter meeting, Sophia knew that she had found a community in JSA that she wanted to contribute to. After winning two gavels at her first Fall State, Sophia joined the ORV cabinet as a mid-year expansion specialist and attended JSA’s Young Women Leadership Institute that summer. Sophia entered her sophomore year as the ORV Director of Outreach and co-chapter President at her school. This past year, she served as her school's vice chapter president and the ORV Director of Activism. Throughout all of her years in JSA, Sophia has been able to learn and grow as both a leader and person alongside so many others with diverse viewpoints. This year as Governor, Sophia wants to grow the ORV and create more opportunities for all students to immerse themselves within JSA on every level. Outside of JSA, Sophia enjoys working as the Editor-in-Chief for an organization she co-founded called Youth Upholding Democracy, crocheting, playing the violin, painting, and playing tennis.
