Shukura Davis is a JSA alum who joined Junior State of America (JSA) in April 2024 as State Director for Texas and Southeast. In this role, Shukura is responsible for supporting student leadership in the Texas and Southeast regions. Most importantly, Shukura will cultivate relationships with students and walk alongside them as they become active participants in our democracy.

Prior to joining JSA, Shukura held positions with various school districts in the Greater Houston area. She is a former educator with over 13 years of experience, specializing in STEM education and serving as a school principal. Shukura is recognized as a Master Teacher and has received community impact awards for her work, including being named an Influential Community Leader by Congressman Al Green.

Shukura earned her bachelor's degree in Education & Mathematics from Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, and a Masters in Education Leadership from Sam Houston State University. She is deeply devoted to her husband and three children. Additionally, Shukura is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She passionately advocates for equity in her community, contributing to city programming and striving to ensure all students have access to a fair and inclusive education.
