Serah J.

National Co-Director of Debate

Serah J. is a member of the Junior State of America’s (JSA) National Cabinet. She represents the JSA Pacific Northwest (PNW) region and is a senior at the International School of Beaverton. As the JSA National Director of Debate, Serah is responsible for delivering national resolutions to JSA regions and planning national conferences with the help of her co-director.

Serah has been an active JSA member of her high school chapter since 2020. She joined JSA because of a preexisting interest in debate and activism. During her time at JSA, Serah has held several roles serving as a debate agent, the PNW director of debate, and president of her school chapter. She has been recognized with over 12 Best Speaker awards, the Journalistic Learning Institute’s Commentary Award for 2023, President’s Award, the student advisor for her school and district, and the IB Profile Award for Thinker.

Outside of JSA, Serah is actively involved in track and field. She is passionate about making a difference in the civil liberties of incarcerated people because of personal connection to the conflict and aspirations to become a criminal defense lawyer. Serah looks forward to attending college and earning a degree in political science and international relations.
