A professor at New York City’s Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law – a division of the Yeshiva University – since 1981, David Carlson is the author of more than 50 articles on the subjects of debtor-creditor law and legal philosophy.
Carlson recently published a revision of Gilmore’ classic treatise, now titled Gilmore and Carlson on Secured Lending: Claims in Bankruptcy.

Carlson has his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara and his law degree from U.C.’s Hastings College of Law. While attending the latter, he was editor-in-chief of the Hastings Law Journal. He later served as an associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore.
