The Junior State of America Foundation welcomes Tom Silverman as its Chief Development Officer. Silverman brings with him more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit development, strategic planning, business partnerships, and social entrepreneurship. He has a deep commitment to democracy and a passion for youth empowerment.
A self-described global citizen, Silverman has worked across the globe to empower individuals and strengthen communities. Prior to arriving at JSA, Silverman served as Vice President of Development, Community Engagement at buildOn, an international nonprofit that builds primary schools in rural villages around the world and operates service-learning programs for high school students in urban areas in the United States.
Silverman has robust experience in politics, having worked on several national and local political campaigns. He is an experienced mission-driven leader and movement builder. He holds an MA in Public Affairs and Practical Politics from the University of San Francisco and a BA in Political Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh.
