AP U.S. History

Through lectures, class discussions, field trips and extensive reading, this course covers the study of political institutions, social and cultural developments, diplomacy, and economic trends in U.S. history. Meant to give students the skills to critically analyze historical change over time, the course covers specific facts as well as the development of broad movements. Students spend considerable time reading historic documents and other primary sources to learn how to interpret U.S. history on their own.

This college-level course is designed to prepare students for the Advanced Placement Examination in United States History. It is equivalent to a two-semester Advanced Placement course.
