Vivian Tsai is a Senior Director with TIAA Financial Services. She is responsible for the strategy and program management of the $7 billion ScholarShare 529 College Savings Plan on behalf of the State of California’s Treasurer’s Office. She manages institutional relationship and partnership initiatives with the State of California with a focus on education savings business initiatives, the ScholarShare Investment Board, and State government relations. Vivian has been working in the institutional asset management industry since 2001, having joined TIAA in 2014, after nine years with BlackRock, the world’s largest investment manager. She began her career in the financial services industry with Morgan Stanley in San Francisco.
A California native and graduate of JSA’s DC Summer School in 1984, Vivian has worked in New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong & Taipei before setting back in the Bay Area. Vivian received her BS in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, sits on the Boards of the College Savings Foundation and the SRVHS Instrumental Music Foundation, and has long become used to being referred to as Andrew and Sonam’s mom.
