Former U.S. Congressman Vic Fazio is senior advisor in the Washington office of the law firm of Akin, Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, a role he has held since 2005.
Fazio co-founded Sacramento’s California Journal magazine in 1970 and served as a senior assistant to the speaker of the state assembly for four years. He was elected to the California State Assembly in 1975 representing Sacramento.
He was elected to Congress in 1979 and served there for 20 years. Fazio held a variety of Congressional roles, including leadership on the House Appropriations Committee, the Democratic Caucus and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
Following his retirement from the House, Fazio was co-managing partner of Clark & Weinstock’s Washington office.
Fazio serves on the boards of Northrop Grumman Corp., The Electricity Innovation Institute, The California Institute, the Coro National Board of Governors, the U.S.A. Capitol Historical Society and the American Political Science Association. He is a graduate of Union College of Schenectady, N.Y.
