San Bernardino County Second District Supervisor Janice Rutherford was elected a supervisor in November 2010. She represents the cities of Fontana, Upland and Rancho Cucamonga as well as the unincorporated communities of Crestline, Devore, Lytle Creek, San Antonio Heights and Mount Baldy.
A member of the city council in Fontana, Calif. (San Bernardino County), from 2000-2010, Rutherford was re-elected both in 2004 and 2008. The public affairs director for Bill Leonard of the California State Board of Equalization, earlier Rutherford Lim served as Leonard’s chief of staff when he was in the California State Assembly and California State Senate.
Native Californian Rutherford Lim earned a bachelor’s degree with highest honors from University of California at Riverside and holds a master’s degree in American Politics from the Claremont Graduate University, where she also did doctoral coursework in Economics and Public Policy. She is a graduate of the Great Valley Leadership Institute and participated in the California Civic Leadership Institute.
Rutherford Lim is the Inland Empire’s representative to the State Board of Directors for the California League of Cities. She served three years as president of the league’s Inland Empire Division. She was recently recognized with the Leadership in Action award from the League’s Mayors & Council members academy. She is a member of Fontana’s Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce. She is past president of the Fontana Boys and Girls Club, and serves on the boards of directors for the Chaffey College Foundation and the Fontana Art Association. She also helped organize the Summer Academy for the Performing Arts for Fontana high school students and organized her church’s community service projects annually.
Rutherford lives in Fontana with her husband, Steve Lim and their two young boys, Ethan and Noah.
